Round 14 Roundup

Round 14 should have seen the 1st xi taking on Much Wenlock at home, the 2nd xi travelling to the same opponents, and the 3rd xi entertaining Worfield.

However, the glorious summer sunshine on Saturday couldn’t prevent both the 1st and 2nd xi’s games being cancelled due to waterlogged outfields at Bomere Heath and Much Wenlock. The 1st xi haven’t been able to play Much Wenlock in 2012 and it’s the same situation for the 2nd xi, who are now into double figures (10) of games that have been cancelled or abandoned this season.

The 3rd xi were forced into rearranging their home game vs Worfield to another venue for the second time this season, this time  moving to the former home venue of Frankwell in Shrewsbury.

Chris Scott won the toss and duly inserted Worfield who were always behind in the game once Steve Rumble and Jonathon Hughes had both picked up 2 wickets apiece. Rumble ended with 2 for 11 and Hughes with 2 for 24 before Harry Bolland and Dave Langton finished off the innings with 2 for 11 and 4 for 8 respectively. Extras proved to be the top scorer with 17 with Euan Wentworth the only Worfield batsman to get into double figures with 12 in Worfield’s total of 59 all out.

Despite the 3rd xi losing 3 quick wickets to opening bowler Steve Pitt (3 for 19), BHCC got past their winning target with no further loss getting to 63 for 3 inside 22 overs. Chris Scott top scored with 31 not out giving the 3rd xi another 20 points and continuing their unbeaten run in 2012.
