Harry Bolland Man of the Match for 3rds

After last weekend’s complete washout for all 3 league teams, this weekend proved to be a little more successful with the 3rds taking on Worfield 3rds at Oldbury Wells school in Bridgnorth.

After losing the toss and being stuck in on what was described by the home captain as a slow, damp, green track, after the initial loss of 4 quick wickets, Tony Pritchard and Harry Bolland combined to make a fantastic partnership for the 5th wicket taking the score up to 206-5 off 39 overs. Tony top-scored with 72 and Harry continued after his partner had fallen finishing on a red-inker score of 60 not out.

After setting such a great total, the 3rds took to the field in a multitude of jumpers to fight off the cold and made early inroads into the Worfield batting lineup. Tight economic overs from all the bowlers kept the batsman under pressure enabling Harry Bolland to add to his earlier score with the bat to take 7 for 23 from 10.1 overs, eventually bowling Worfield out for 76, giving the 3rds a 130-run victory and 24 points!

With the other 2 teams’  games another washout against Much Wenlock home and away, the 3rd xi came to the for to get their 2012 campaign under way in the best possible way.
