2nd xi vs Allscott


The 2nd xi headed to Allscott seeing if they could round out the first half of the 2014 season with an unprecedented unbeaten record, having won 8 out of the previous 10 encounters with the other 2 being cancelled without a ball bowled.


Bowling first at the Sugar Beet Factory, Tom Dermody (3 for 30) soon had the wickets tumbling with good support from youngsters Jon Wills (1 for 18) and Sam Smout (2 for 15) before young Henry Preece got in on the act snaring 2 for 13 at the end of the innings. Allscott were bowled out for 108 with Asa Dean (30) the only batsman to offer any resistance for the home team.


Chasing 109 for victory, openers James Plant (28*) and Rob Dean (54*) got the 2nd xi over the line comfortably with a big 10-wicket win and another 20 points for the away team.


9 wins out of 11 and still unbeaten sees the 2nd xi top the Shropshire County Reserve Division 2 League at the half way stage. Congratulations to all involved on a fantastic start to the season – here’s to trying to go the whole season unbeaten!
