1st XI Match Report 6th May 2017

Second game of the season for the 1st XI was a trip to Forton CC.

Bomere lost the toss and were stuck into bat on a chilly day.
Adam Vanner and Robert Dean opened up and got us off to a good start.
Vanner playing boycott with 11 from 44 balls, and Rob finding the middle of the bat well scoring 47 from 44 balls including 8 fours (through the lush undergrowth).
Rob then played around a straight one bottling his 50. 1st jug owed.

Next in was Travis Keys he somehow managed to glove a regulation delivery first up, he said it popped? Just another Aussie making excuses.

Matt Jones was in at 4. Vanner was then trapped LBW. Matt dug in for a well fought out 35 from 73. Cover driving that ball through square leg a treat!
Through his innings he was accompanied by the man of the moment at number 5 Sam Bloor.
The ground was too small for the big bus, who built an innings of 105 not out from 85 balls.
The wig then also played round a straight one and Henry Dawson was bought to the crease which was a short innings of 7.
Not as short as me, I didn’t even face a ball so little Louis van gaal sacrificed himself and took his big neck back to the changing rooms!

Chris Stevens then came in to smash it around with Sam for a quick 29 from 16.
This concluded our innings on a strong total of 263-6 off 45 overs.

Bowling was a short and sweet affair.
Myself and stevo took the new ball. Fortons first wicket fell with just 25 on the board.

Stevo was preserving himself for the cup final at the meadow the following day coming off the short run and up the hill to my amazement but it didn’t stop him ripping through the Forton batting line up claiming 7-35 from his 11 overs. (Another jug owed)

Wig replaced me from the top end and finished off Forton’s innings 69 all out. Picking up figures of 2-14 from 3.4 overs.

A very convincing win for the village and making it 2 wins from 2, picking up 24 points.

Next game is at home to Welshpool and hoping to make it 3 from 3 #upthevillage

Thanks for coming: Myself, Jamie Dean, Henry Preece, Andrew Oliver (Ol warming up in his whites) horrendous.

Peace out, LVG.
